2015 was a good year for gaming. I had a lot of fun – So much fun, I decided to put together a list of the 10 games I had the most fun with in 2015. Now these are not the BEST games of 2015, these are just the ones I played the most, I had more memorable moments with, and that really stood out to me. This is Part 1: Games 10 – 6.
#10. FIFA 16 – EA Canada (Xbox One)
FIFA 16 is a great game for someone who casually wants to pick up a sports title, create a character and just progress through their career. The addition of the female league is huge plus. Those girls get very scrappy on that field and it’s awesome that they get their place in the game now. My character (Paz Hotspur) is slowly making his way through FC Seoul Korea and I am having a blast. The Ultimate Team mode is really fun as well, but I’m more into the game for the career mode and just casually picking this up every now and then and cranking out a few games to further my soccer star.
#9. Technobabylon – Wadjet Eye Games (PC)
Technobabylon was given to Frameloss for a review and I loved it. When a game has a story I get into, I have to turn everything else off and just engulf myself into that games world. I am a huge sucker for cyberpunk style worlds and this game hit every level for me, as well as being a really good point-and-click adventure title. If you want my full review, please go HERE to read my full thoughts on the game, but it is a short and sweet adventure game and I highly recommend this title to anyone who is a fan of the genre.
#8. Tinertia – Candescent Games (PC)
Tinertia was another game given to us for review. I did a stream event for it and I fell in love with its simplistic play style but brutal difficulty curve. Tinertia is a puzzle platformer where you can only move by rocket jumping. As an old Quake player this already had me sold. The game ramps up and has insane boss battles and a bumpin’ soundtrack that kept me playing for long, long sessions. It also helps that the main character is a little cutey robot and you just want him to do a good job and make it through the levels.
#7. Transformers: Devastation – Platinum Games (PS4)
Transformers: Devastation is a super fun action beat-em-up for any Transformers fan. Platinum Games is really shaping up to be one of my favorite studios out there with all the quality they bring me (Bayonetta, Metal Gear Rising, Wonderful 101) and this game is no exception. On the surface, this is a fun nostalgia ride with a really fun beat em up, hack-and-slash style, a big world ,and a very cheesy story about Megatron being a bad robot! Underneath that, it has a really awesome leveling system and weapon system, multiple characters with different play styles, tons of cool unlockables, and a combo system that is not as deep as other platinum games but deep enough to keep veteran players on their toes. I love this title. I love Platinum. Please check this game out if you are a fan of beat-em-ups!
#6. Dying Light – Techland (PC)
Dying Light was a game I was not looking forward to, as I did not like Dead Island at all. That game was a mess at launch and even when it eventually got fixed, it still was not a fun game; so going into this I did not have high hopes. I picked it up anyways because this was my year of second chances and I am very glad I did. The story was good enough to keep me caring about the characters in the world but cheesy enough to make me smile and laugh at every once in a while (if you have not noticed I love a good cheesy story). The parkour was fantastic – moving around this world felt so smooth and just fluid. The day and night cycle, as it gets dark they warn you to get to safe places and you want to do that or you’re camping in a closet hoping the night monsters don’t find you. They are insane and you can’t really outrun them, so time management is a big part of exploring. Weapon crafting was also really nice; I always was finding and making new weapons and upgrading and it kept everything fresh. I ended up loving this title and if you have not played it, it has to be cheap to pick up at this point so please go play it.
Stay tuned for my top 5 favorite games of 2015 and let us know if you agree or disagree with anything on my list. Please leave comments on what your top games were this year as well and we may even discuss it on the show!
